Biography
Rebecca Carroll is a classically trained musician, composer, teacher and shaman who merges her healing gifts with her musical talents. She uses music and the healing energy of angels to restore harmony to people’s lives.
Rebecca has over twenty years experience teaching music. Rebecca has a B.S. in Music Education and is a life coach–certified from CoachU. She is a also a Usui Reiki Master and a certified Body Ecologist. In addition, Rebecca studied Luminous Energy Medicine at the Robbat Center for Healing Arts and is a Shaman.
My Story
Jamming with the AngelsTM is a combination of my work and life experience. While holding office jobs in the medical field, I was exposed to everything from academic medicine to open heart surgery. During this time, I was an unofficial Life Coach for many of my office friends. Working in hospitals and medical offices during the day, I often taught piano and performed in choirs and musical groups in the evenings and during weekends. While performing as the vocal soloist for an early music group in Pittsburgh, I began studying viola da gamba - an early stringed instrument. So throughout my time of working in the medical field, I performed and continued to develop musically. Eventually, I sought a career change in sales. I became the institutional sales representative for a Steinway dealer and was responsible for Carnegie-Mellon’s Music Department switch to Steinway pianos. This was a good fit for my musical background until my divorce and the emotional devastation it precipitated, incited another change.
Music education was my next focus. I taught students ranging in age from 18 months to 73 years old. I became a certified Kindermusik teacher and also taught group piano and piano students at a local music school. Aside from the rewards most teachers experience in facilitating joy and musical development, I came to see how music could cause a profound healing effect. It was a wonderful honor when the parents of one of my students funded a scholarship in my name. This was in gratitude for the boost in their son’s self esteem due to his studying with me. Another who experienced a healing effect was a special needs student who ran under the piano at her first lesson. To our amazement, she eventually learned to play a song. Although it wasn’t initially evident to me, over time, I began to see that what I did was healing.
Then it came time to heal myself. After several years of teaching, I began to experience health problems. My energy drain became so severe that I went to bed during my lunch hour in order to complete my work day. It was difficult to teach, for I had laryngitis so badly at times, I could barely talk let alone sing. This condition worsened. It felt as though I was allergic to the world - everything I breathed, ate or came in contact with was causing a reaction.
Having been treated for Candida (systemic yeast) fourteen years prior, I suspected this was the culprit. Since many traditional physicians didn’t believe Candida existed I sought holistic solutions. I began acupuncture treatments and looked for additional ways to augment my healing. This led me to our local health food store where I asked about treatments for Candida. A woman told me about Donna Gates, author of THE BODY ECOLOGY DIET, and recommended I try it. What impressed me was that Donna was not an MD, but an intelligent, spiritual woman who dedicated her life to research, self healing and helping others. After being on the diet strictly for eight months, my health improved. My enthusiasm prompted my certification so I could teach others how to heal themselves. I began offering Body Ecology classes, workshops and individual Body Ecology Coaching.
Another holistic approach used on my healing journey, was energy work. I was introduced to it by one of my coaching clients (I became an official life coach while teaching music) who was a Reiki Master. As I had never heard of Reiki, when she told me it would open my spiritual awareness, I signed up for her Level I class. While I didn’t notice anything initially, Reiki was like a big miracle that quietly sneaked in the back door. It definitely opened my spiritual and energetic channels. I continued with Level II Reiki studies as my father was dying for it enabled me to send long-distance energy to comfort him. Next I became a became a Reiki Master and began attuning others.
Through my energetic studies, I was introduced to Barbara Brennon’s book, HANDS OF LIGHT and became intrigued with the idea that the health of my physical body had a source in my energetic field. This was a radical idea to me and as my health needed further improvement, I went to an energetic healer recommended by a friend. I didn’t know at that time she was a Shaman. My energy session with her was very dramatic for although I didn’t see anything happen, it felt as though a heavy weight was lifted from me. I truly felt lighter. The heaviness had to do with unresolved energy related to my divorce over ten years prior. Releasing the energy that no longer served me, had a very positive effect on my health. My strength and energy increased steadily. I continued seeing the Shaman and later enrolled in her healing arts school, The Robbat Center. This I did to open my own intuition and for self healing. I had not intended to set up shop as a healer.
However, when I began receiving comments from others about the healing that took place when I sang and played my crystal bowls, I began to take another look at what was happening. Could it be that people’s lives were changing because of my music? Could it be that I was a healer who didn’t know or accept my own gifts fully? Upon looking back, I had been inwardly directed to collect healing modalities over the years and now my path had come full circle. I was integrating music with my healing gifts.
Now because I value what I have learned, I want to pass this learning on to others. I am happy to offer a variety of healing services that can meet you wherever you may be on your life’s journey.
